"Hello I am 86 years young but have a little trouble getting out sometimes so could you please send me the lastest copy of the Oklahoma Senior Journal? I just love your magazine and I use it all the time. If you could also include an extra copy, I will give that one to my friend who always wants to borrow mine." "Our state agency served almost 85,000 Oklahomans with disabilities last year through employment, education and independent living programs. I picked up the Spring-Winter issue of the Oklahoma Senior Journal with Dr. Ed Shadid on the cover and was just blown away by the quality of your content and design. DRS would like to distribute your publication to clients and families through our Vision Center in Shepherd Mall. Do you think we could get DRS services for people with vision impairments listed in your “Information and Referral” section? Our Visual Services staff provide free instructional services to help people make the most of their existing vision and adjust to legal blindness so they can remain independent in their own homes. Our Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped mails free recorded books and players to those who can’t use standard print. We even have another free program called the Older Blind Independent Living Program specifically to help people ages 55 and over. Of course, we help people with all types of disabilities, but the incidence of blindness is increasing at the same level as our aging population. People say DRS services are a well-kept secret. The Oklahoma Senior Journal would be a fantastic way to get information about our programs to people when and where they need it. We would love to be included in the pages of Oklahoma Senior Journal so we can work together to help more seniors with disabilities continue to lead productive, independent lives. Sincere best wishes." "Pat Tucker with "Meals on Wheels" through Westminster Presbyterian Church at 4400 N. Shartel Ave, in OKC contacted me and ask for me to bring up the OSJ so that it could be delivered along with all their "Senior" Meals. Editors note: The OSJ took the OSJ to the Church's main office the first of this week to be apart of their "Meals on Wheels." "Pat McMillian of Nacoma Park, OK. - Called the OKlahoma Senior Journal and ask us to help her find a trust worthy and honest Dentist in the OKC area. She had been to another Dentist and knew he had taking advance of her. We gave Mrs. McMillian three excellent choices that we knew were true "Senior" Advocates that would work with her and see that she was not being exploited. Mrs. McMillian let us know at the OSJ that she was so Grateful that she could turn to the OSJ and that we would help and guide her to the trusted proper services for her needs. God Bless the Oklahoma Senior Journal & Robin Gunn, for the quick responsive and in-depth resources of help you have for the "Senior" Community, she told us!!!~ " "Sharon Myers of N.W. OKC - Works Part time for "Senior Care Services" and she let us know that she personally uses the OSJ all the time in helping "Seniors" and their family member navigate the field of senior services out there in our State. She went on to let us know that the OSJ is the very "Best" resource out on the Market yesterday and today for Senior concerns, needs, issues and even discounts and entertainment! She went on to ask us to mail her a couple of new copies because she did not want to take any away from her work. Mrs. Myers herself is 64 and has relied on the OSJ for many years now. "Thank You, Robin Gunn and the OSJ for your detailed involvement of Information to our "Senior" population," Mrs. Myers said. "The OSJ it is a "Must" have for "Seniors" and their family members", Mrs. Myers went on to proclaim. Editors Note: The OSJ mailed out two current issues of the OSJ the very next day! "Tessy Garret, of North OKC, called the OK Senior Jounal asking us to mail her the most recent issue. She told us, "My husband has recently passed, and I am no longer as mobile I used to be. I can't get to the distribution points. I am now more dependent than ever on the infomation in the OK Senior Journal." "George Littlefield, NW OKC. He asked us to mail him the most recent issue due to the fact that he is not going to his doctor's office, where he previously picked up the current issues of the OK Senrior Journal. "The OK Senior Journal has been the best resource for my wife and I in the Oklahoma City Metro, more than any other resource or publication. Thank you so much for providing this service to Senior Citizens." "My name is Nancy Ritz and I am the director for the Yukon Mobile Meals. I picked up a copy of the OSJ at the Kimson Chinese Restaurant in Yukon and looked through it. It is the best source for "Senior" information I have ever seen! Yukon Mobile Meals is in the same building where I think you already deliver to the Yukon Senior Center. Can the Yukon Mobile Meals be a OSJ distribution point also? We would like to put the OSJ in with the meals we deliver to the "Seniors" homes in our area. Yukon Mobile Meals was also wondering if our information can be included in the next issue of the OSJ and we are on a very fixed budget. Thank You very much for your consideration." -- Nancy Ritz, Program Director, Yukon Mobile Meals. "Hi Robin; I live near S.W. 59th and Portland Avenue and would love to know where I can pick up the latest issue of the Oklahoma Senior Journal in my area or you could mail me a couple of copies; here is my address. I have come to rely on all the many "Senior" related resources and would really like to have one or two of the latest issues. I really would appreciate it! Thank you." -- Lee Hallman - S.W. OKC. (Editor's Note: The OSJ mailed out two of the OSJ's latest issues the next day. ) "Hello my name is Gary Starkey, I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area and my Father J.E. Starkey lives in the Village area in Oklahoma City. He is not as mobile as he use to be and I was in hopes we could have a Oklahoma Senior Journal mailed to him instead of him waiting till he goes out again. Would you please give me a call for my Father's address so he may receive the latest issue of the OSJ at his home. The OSJ is the best resource I have ever seen for "Senior" needs and information. I love that my father will have the perfect "Senior" resources right at his finger tips and mine because I already have my copy of the OSJ. Thank You very much!" -- Gary Starkey of Dallas/Fort Worth Texas "Hello! My name is Jackie Steele and I would like to get some extra issues of the Oklahoma Senior Journal. My friend has an issue and I have found it to be very informational. Could you please give me a call, I would love to have one for my own personal use and would love to give a few out to friends and family. Thank You for providing such an in-depth, informative, entertaining and educational "Senior" publication." -- Mrs. Jackie Steele of N.E. OKC, OK. "I was looking for a dental company that would be able to work with my wife and I as far as payments or assistance programs. Ms. Gunn with the OSJ called me right back and gave me vital information that would work in mine and my wife's case. I had to let others know that the OSJ and its Editor, Robin Gunn, put our worries to rest and I am so grateful to Ms. Gunn and the OSJ's resources for the "Senior" community. Thank You again, Ms. Gunn. My wife and I can not express to you how much you have helped us both." "I would like to personally thank Robin Gunn and the Oklahoma Senior Journal. As a leasing counselor for Quail Ridge Assisted Living, I talk to many seniors and their families who are trying to make the best decision possible regarding selecting the right assisted living community for them. As a senior advocate, Robin’s expert referrals to Quail Ridge are so appreciated and welcomed. We are a long time advertiser in the OSJ and will continue to be for many years to come!" "I was working in the Midwest City Hospital and I saw an OSJ there. I am very interested in taking it. I would like to know how often it is published and how much it is for a subscription? I did not want to take one from the Hospital since they are for the patients. Could you please get the information to me on the cost. I was reading all the "Senior" resources and realized that I had to have a copy for my personal use. " "Hello, my name is Joann Holcomb from Sunny Lane United Methodist Church in Del City, OK. and we have a lot of "Seniors" at our church and I have enjoyed reading the articles in the OSJ concerning "I called the Editor (Robin Gunn) of the OSJ because my issue was a two-year-old copy that I have used many times for my ongoing needs as a "Senior." I ask for the newest copy of the OSJ to be mailed to me because I am wheelchair bound and only get out by handicap bus. Ms. Gunn helped me with some needed phone numbers per our conversation and she mailed out a copy of the OSJ that very day. I am so grateful to Ms. Gunn and all the vast "Senior" information that is right at the reader's finger tips through the OSJ! We are an Adult Day Health Care with a total of four centers in the Edmond/Metro Oklahoma City area. "Robin, you are a wonderful generous business woman. I really appreciate you being so forthcoming with your help and guidance. Your knowledge and years of experience are nothing less then "priceless." It is truly refreshing to find a business woman that really does want to make a difference in our "Senior" community and works very hard at it everyday!" "I have had 12 years experience working with 'Seniors' in the Cardiology Clinic. Myself and my staff use the Oklahoma Senior Journal as a reference resource guide for 'Seniors' and or their caregivers everyday. We cannot keep them in our Clinic, they are gone within a few days after they are delivered to us. We are always calling Robin Gunn, the owner of the OSJ to bring us more issues. "I would like to say how easy it is to look to the OK Senior Journal directory to locate businesses quickly. It is very convenient. I have a listing in the OSJ, but the advertising does not stop there. Robin Gunn has been very instrumental in building my new salon business. She speaks highly of all her customers and promotes their business wherever she goes. I'm so blessed to know her and especially blessed that she knows my business because others will know of it also!" "Seniors are some of my most favorite people in the world and why I do what I do. I have seen first-hand great loneliness and pure lack of attention that can ensue for Seniors, when those of us do not take a "Stand for Seniors" and their growing needs. Heck, we will all be there and be a caregiver at some point in our life. Aging Is NOT for SISSIES!!! "I have found the OKC Senior Journal to be a useful resource tool in assisting my long term care clients and hand them out to them. I have also used it when guest speaking at college Social Work classes to provide them with a better understanding of available resources." "Hello Robin, my name is Ms. Leaster Lenard and I am the Excell Hospice Social Worker. I saw the Senior Journal while visiting a Hospice patient at a Nursing facility and I was wondering how I could order more of the booklets so I could provide them to patients and their families. Thank you." "It's a great publication and we can not wait to begin working with you and The OSJ. Thanks." "It was nice visiting with you on the phone.Thank you so very much for helping us spread the word about "Rebuilding Together" for our seniors. On many occasions I have referred patients and their family members to the OSJ as a resource for their senior needs. The OSJ is the most complete and informative guide for seniors and their caregivers that I have found. I highly recommend the OSJ for all seniors. We can hardly keep them in the hospital which speaks volumes about the publication! "Recently a gentleman saw the web site for Senior Journal and called Robin asking about retirement communities in the Oklahoma City area. He currently lives in Texas. Robin was able to answer his questions and give him an overview of what is available in this area. The customer was very pleased with her honesty and depth of knowledge. He and his wife joined the waiting list at Tealridge Retirement Community and will be moving this fall. The pleasant experience they had with Robin assured them that moving to Oklahoma City would be a good decision." "What a wonderful resource for families! As a national instructor for the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designation, I have been to a lot of areas where there was no easy way to find out what communities, services, or agencies were available to help seniors and their families. The Oklahoma Senior Journal is an exceptional tool for anyone looking for information that will provide solutions to some of the challenges of aging. I would wholeheartedly recommend it!"
