Everyone knows a senior – even if you’re not one – your grandparent, a parent, aunt, uncle, sister, brother or friend could be one. The Oklahoma Senior Journal is devoted to the largest demographic of the American population – can you believe that "seniors" comprise 47.2% of the world?

Every day another 10,000 Baby Boomers turn 50 years "young." Between the years 2000-2010, 78 million Boomers will turn 50. People are shocked when they hear this, but it’s true! This segment of the population spend over $2 trillion in our economy. That fact certainly makes me think – WOW, the power of the "senior" in our society! Seniors collectively control 50% of all discretionary income. Seniors spend more than 60 billion annually. They spend 57% above the average on retirement programs, 37% above the average on apparel and 30% above average on food.

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." – Leo Buscaglia

Do this for the "senior" in your life today!
